Il terremoto del 2009 ha messo a dura prova il tessuto urbano e sociale della città, riducendo drammaticamente i punti di riferimento delle famiglie e dei bambini. La costruzione del polo scolastico di Sassa è dunque una straordinaria occasione per rammendare questi tessuti strappati: l’obiettivo è costruire non soltanto una scuola ma un piccolo pezzo di città, o meglio un piccolo borgo con una sua piazza, le vie, le scale ed i portici, una composizione aperta alle persone e alla loro quotidiana reinterpretazione, una struttura capace di offrire luoghi e occasioni diverse, dove possano svolgersi le molteplici attività che un centro civico accoglie.
The earthquake of 2009 has put a strain on the urban and social fabric of the city, dramatically reducing the reference points of families and children. The construction of the Sassa school complex is therefore an extraordinary opportunity to mend these torn urban fabrics: the goal is to build a small piece of city, or rather a small village with its square, streets, stairs and arcades, a composition open to people and their daily reinterpretation. The school becomes a flexible structure which offers different places and occasions for the multiple activities required by a civic center.
